Denis MacShane was Chair of the inquiry panel on the All-Party Parliamentary Inquiry into Antisemitism that delivered its report in September 2006. He is author of Globalising Hatred: The New Antisemitism (published by Weidenfeld and Nicolson, October 2008).

How to Prevent Ethnic and Religious Conflict

Rolf Ekéus is the former expert on weapons of mass destruction at the United Nations and was executive chairman of the United Nations Special Commission (UNSCOM) on Iraq from 1991 to 1997. Until 2007 he was the High Commissioner on National Minorities of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and was Swedish ambassador to the United States from 1997 to 2000. He is currently Chairman of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute.
Following the lecture the Chairman of the CCJO, Clemens Nathan, will present Mr Ekéus with the René Cassin medal in recognition of his work to promote human rights.
The Vote of Thanks will be given by Leif Holmström, Director of the Raoul Wallenberg Institute at Lund University, Sweden.

Israel and the new face of War

General Smith is one of the leading theorists of modern warfare. Having served as Commander of the UN forces in Bosnia in 1995, he was General Officer Commanding Northern Ireland 1996-99, after which he served as Deputy Supreme Allied commander in NATO.
